Teachers will use videos and case studies to analyze and reflect on different patterns of discourse and how those patterns promote student reasoning, conceptual understanding, mathematics identity, and reflection. During this session, participants will have the opportunity reflect on and analyze their own questioning and discourse structures. Participants will explore questions that encourage students to make connections and develop deeper mathematical understandings. Participants will plan the discourse and questioning strategies for a lesson plan they bring to this session.
