K–5 Sparking Joy in Your Mathematics Classroom: From Start To Finish
Each session we will unpack a different part of the mathematics lesson. Discover activities and routines that help spark joy in elementary students. Through the sessions, we will explore ways to inspire collaboration and problem solving to encourage confidence and autonomy in math class. ISBE Professional Development hours will be provided for each session.
(Seven 90-minute virtual sessions)
Participants may select from four virtual session times: 8:30–10:00 am, 10:30 am–12:00 pm, 1:00–2:30 pm, or 4:30–6:00 pm.

|Session 3: Work We Do: Worthwhile Tasks||12/8||12/7|
|We will explore what makes a task worthwhile as well as the difference between reteaching and re-engagement.|
|Session 4: In Your Group: Group Work & Collaboration Norms||1/18||1/19|
|We will discover how having norms for group work can help give all students access and promote collaboration.|
|Session 5: Classroom Conversations: Making them Productive||2/8||2/9|
|Learn about different types of questioning for different purposes in a lesson.|
|Session 6: Sharing Our Work: Summarizing the Lesson||3/14||3/8|
|We will dive deep into the end of a lesson where you can share student work and make connections.|
|Session 7: Look What We Know: Reflection||5/9||5/10|
|This time of year is perfect for reflecting on the year, what went well/what to change, and make goals for next year!|
