K–5 PD Series

School Year 2024–2025

Illuminating Student Brilliance in Our Math Classrooms

Every student comes to our classroom with a set of experiences that informs their unique brilliance. Our role as teachers is to help recognize and to support students in further developing their brilliance and love of mathematics. In this series, we will explore some math learning progressions and how we can leverage student brilliance to move students along that continuum. We will reflect on the structures in our classroom that help illuminate student brilliance and how we can create even more of those opportunities.

ISBE Professional Development hours will be provided for each session.

Three 90-minute virtual sessions from 8:30–10:00 am, 10:30 am–12:00 pm, 1:00–2:30 pm, or 4:30–6:00 pm; AND two full-day in-person sessions from 8:30 am–3:00 pm. There will also be an optional “Session 0” where we will introduce the MCMI team and project resources.
